Celebrating Love in Maine

My love affair with the state of Maine started approximately nine years ago when I started my freshman year at Bates College. After four years of college and two summers working on Pleasant Lake at the Seeds of Peace International Camp, it's safe to say that Maine will always have a special place in my heart. Thus, this past weekend, I was so excited to go to Maine to celebrate the wedding of two very wonderful people, and spend time with some of the people I love most.

The Bates ladies and I rented a house for the weekend in Portland and spent the few days there eating fresh seafood, drinking blueberry beer, enjoying a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, laughing and catching up, and celebrating our friend's wedding on a boat in the Portland harbor. It really was a perfect weekend. I sometimes forget how wonderful it is to be around good friends, and how even after months of not seeing each other, once we are reunited, it's like we were never apart. It was also wonderful that LB got to bond with my Bates friends and spend time with some very special people. Good friends are good for the soul!
